Blue Box Belper is a Registered Charity (no.1178483), which aims to improve the quality of life for the residents of the Parks Estate (Belper). We do this through providing and supporting a range of local activities, as well as seeking to build a new Blue Box Community Facility (see proposed design above), which will become a hub for the local community.  We are actively fundraising and finalising plans for the new building, and are always looking for local volunteers to help further the building project and support current activities.

OUR STORY

Blue Box Belper became a charity in May 2018, following its beginnings as a constituted community group. The original group supported activities for children and young people hosted from the old Blue Box building, which sadly demolished in 2015 following fire damage.

After a time of consultation with residents, the charity Blue Box Belper was formed and began to develop plans for a new Community Centre, which will serve the needs of the whole community. We have now received planning permission for this new building and are currently raising funds to make it a reality.

Whilst the focus has been on developing the building project, we have also been developing community activities and initiatives, to meet local needs and increase community engagement ahead of the new Community Centre.

LATEST NEWS

We have just launched our Community Survey and are inviting all residents on the Parks Estate to complete it. The survey is available online, but has also been delivered to every household.

In other news we have now secured planning permission for the new Blue Box Community Centre and are now applying for significant grants and increasing our fundraising activity.

We have also been successful in securing £9,885 from Derbyshire County Council for supporting youth activities on the Parks Estate which are ongoing.

For an update on our latest work please do listen to September’s AGM, which was recorded online.

Regular Events, such as Cuppa Cake Chat, Chair-obics, Craft Group and the youth provision are currently intermittent due to Covid-19 restrictions.
